Welcome to Rouge Valley Quilters' Guild

The Rouge Valley Quilters' Guild promotes fellowship among quilters and encourages quilters to share their knowledge about the craft and art of quilting. The guild hosts workshops for our members and we engage knowledgeable guest speakers to educate our membership. The guild is a non-profit organization. All skill levels are welcome!

The RVQG is located in Pickering, Ontario, Canada, and has members from across the eastern Greater Toronto Area, including Scarborough, Pickering, Ajax, Whitby and Oshawa as well as points north.

To become a member of the guild, please complete a registration form online. See the Membership section for more information.

Welcome all new RVQG members and returning members! We meet at Peace Lutheran Church, 928 Liverpool Rd., Pickering. You can park on the upper level or the lower level. We meet in the upper sanctuary. Doors open at 6:30pm.

Please mark your calendar with our 2023-24 meeting dates (found on the main webpage). We have a great lineup of guest speakers. Also, read about the free activity called Bee Night, where a project is taught in an evening. Just click on the various headings on the HOME page, to find out more about all activities in the guild.

Newsletters are emailed to all members each month, and can also be found on the website. They contain a description of all the activities that happen in the guild, and are a must-read!

If you have any questions, please contact an executive member or convenor.

We are looking forward to a great year of friendship and quilting!

Twisted Stitchers is sending an invite!

Happy New Year Members,

I am currently watching the snow fall and glad that I am not out driving in it the meeting was a success our first Zoom and it was executed to perfection with the help of our Executive support!

Please see info below that our President was referring too...see you in Feb!

I am program coordinator for the Twisted Stitchers Quilt Guild in Ajax and wanted to let you know that we are hosting a wonderful speaker in February by way of Zoom meeting. We have only 25 guest spots available to non-members, at the low price of only $10 per person, so we are opening them up to your guild members in case anyone is interested.

On Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at 7 pm, we are proud to welcome Pat Speth of Nickel Quilt fame as our guest speaker. Many of you already know Pat from her books on nickel quilts using 5" squares, but for those of you who are not familiar with her work she gives a lot of great ideas on using smaller pieces of fabric for making wonderful scrappy quilts. Her topic for the evening is "Five Inch is a Cinch". Check her out here.

As I said, there are limited spots available, so it will be on a first come, first served basis. Anyone interested can contact me directly at this email (sharongalna@gmail.com), to have their name put on the list and then they will be contacted for e-transfer payment paid directly to the guild and NOT to me...that email address will be given when payment is required.

*** Please note: If anyone sends payment before they register with me, the $10 fee will be forfeited and will not be reimbursed. So please do not forward the payment email to friends.

We are so happy to offer this opportunity to you.

2024 News! Happy New Year!

 Hello Fellow Members and Visitors,

This year is starting with quilting in full swing for 2024 I hope you are able to join us. I have corrected the meeting and bee night dates (thanks June for the heads up, I love our team work)

First a message from our President!

Dear Rouge Valley Friends,

Hello and Happy New Year!

I have a feeling this year is going to unfold at lightning speed. December was (and always is) a busy time away from the guild, so before the year rolls away ahead of me, I’d like to highlight January’s “guildy” pleasures; some of which are happening soon.

The first Bee Night of 2024 is on January 8 (one week from today). It’s an easily made desk organizer, perfect for the quilt show boutique! Make three! I’m really happy to have an opportunity to gather in person with others who feel comfortable sewing in a group setting indoors.

The newsletter article deadline is next week as well, on January 9. Please submit to rvqgnews@gmail.com

If you want your creations exhibited at the next meeting, Trudy S. has requested that you email photos to rvqgshowandshare@gmail.com sooner rather than later. The display presentations take a minute or two to make!

Our first meeting of 2024 takes place on the 22nd via Zoom. As per usual, I’ll send out an email reminder a few days before, then a link to the meeting the day of. Just like the in person meetings, the virtual ones start at 7 but “doors” open at 6:30. If you are new to the guild, please make sure you have updated Zoom on your device. Then instead of navigating icy roads you can enjoy staying warm at home, with a bevvie of your choice, listening to Kathy Tidswell talk about her journey through fibre arts. Winter does have its advantages.

Welcome to 2024!

Kathy P.
